The Local Area
Holywell Bay is a surfing beach, great for surfers and boogie boarders and to swim in. You will need to be aware of the currents and ensure that you swim only after giving a life guard notice of your intentions, but overall is a great beach to enjoy the waves. Holywell by beach is approximately a mile long, when the tide is extremely low there is access to the Holy Well which is at the far end of the beach, this a cave which has been produced from unusual rock formations which have created basins of water which flow down the cave creating beautiful colours if caught in the sun.
The beach also has two iconic rocks just of the shore known as Gull rock.

The beach has seen fame with the filming of many films and shows including Poldark, James Bond ‘Die another day’ Agatha Christies ‘And Then There Were None’ and most recently Game of Thrones in April 2021.
